Your Pet's Rescue Story
I began looking to rescue a fur baby the end of 2013 when I was living in Atlanta. I was looking at Boxers and Boston Terriers. I came across the Alabama Boston Terrier Rescueand found a sweet boy up for adoption. Unfortunately his temperament and personality was not conducive to my condo living. Fast forward 3 months to Friday, January 17, 2014, 3:36 pm, I received a call from the ABTR. They had taken in a 1 yr old BT that morning whom had been returned to the shelter. She had been kept outside & tied up in northern Alabama. Apparently the neighborhood kids weren’t too kind and would tease and poke at her thru the fence. I later learned from her behavior, she had abused at some point. She was very skittish at loud noises and anything pointed at her. She would cower when I put her harness on! They sent me her picture and said I was eligible to be her foster. I fell in Love! A transport was traveling to Atlanta with another BT and she would be delivered to me at 5 pm the next day, Saturday. I was excited, anxious, and terrified all at the same time. I was single. Living by myself. No rules. No need to be home at any special time. No responsibilities. I could travel at will & spontaneously...you get my story. Well, 5:13 pm Saturday January 18, 2014 I met the transport & Fiona. As soon as held this precious lil baby my heart melted and I was in love. The immediate thought of “foster failure” instantly ran through my mind. I notified the rescue 48 hours last I was keeping her. I’ve learned and loved so much more than I thought I was capable. So has Fiona. I’ve endured the dreadful puppy “biting” place. 2 knee surgeries in 2017. An eye ulcer last month. Lost about 6 pairs of shoes. A few of my shoes have Fiona’s bite marks on them. When I see them I smile and laugh. Moved from Atlanta to Orlando in 2015. 4 homes later, we’ve settled in Winter Park. She is my soulmate, best friend, & protector. Each day I love her more and more. She’s my snoring snuggle bug at night. When I first got her she never snuggled. It took a couple years to gain her trust and love. Now she is always by my side. We take trips to Park Ave, Chuys, Home Depot, Marshall’s, HomeGoods, & Michaels almost every weekend. She is a huge hit every time I’m out in public with her. Her lil baby face is too precious. However, she has a sassy attitude to match! We would be honored to represent Quantum Leap Winery and the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Thank you for your vote.
