Your Pet's Rescue Story
Winnie is a "Potcake" or street dog from the Turks and Caicos Islands. After seeing social media adds for the rescue shelter that allows tourists to play with adorable puppies on the beaches of TCI, we were sold on the cause. My mom and I flew to Grace Bay in the fall of 2017 for my birthday -- after months of an online application process and coordinating all animal travel with the airline, we chose Winnie at the Potcake Place shelter because of our childhood love for Winnie the Pooh. She was precious, loved snacks, had spunk, and loved to dig in the sand. The shelter coordinated all the vaccines and paperwork for US customs and we flew with Winnie back to Orlando, FL. My Mom (Winnie is her only grandchild so far) and Dad still live in Ohio, so after a few days in Florida she headed home to the fall weather. Winnie lives with my in Orlando, turns 2 this July, serves as an Emotional Support Animal, and makes friends with everyone she meets!
