Your Pet's Rescue Story
Saw Kona (then Bebe) on a rescue site in the ‘special needs’ section; knew I needed to meet her. Turned out she was ‘special needs’ due to fear of men. She and I (a man) spent 30 minutes hanging out while she wouldn’t acknowledge me, but then she came toward me in her cage and kissed my hand. I was hooked. Not sure how much more time passed, but the leash was clicked on her collar and she followed me past the other ‘special needs’, all the puppies and other dogs - all while walking perfect on the leash. A quick potty break, and she sat next to me in the grass panting, every once in a while glancing up to squint and smile at me as she often does.... Still hooked to this day.
