Your Pet's Rescue Story
Skylar saved us more than we saved her! On November 4th, 2015 we fell in love with this sweet girl at the Pet Alliance of Sanford. I had gone to visit the Pound in Sanford and got kicked out ten minutes before closing. I called my fiancé incredibly upset and he told me to go visit the Pet Alliance across the street. A new light came upon me! As I walked around the kennels, I stopped in my tracks when I saw this pup. She was full grown, two years old, and only had a picture on her cage that said “Hello, my name is Skylar.” She sat a couple of feet away from the cage and looked like she had given up on all mankind. As I said her name, she turned her head to the left and looked at me with the saddest eyes. I knew right then that she was the one. I immediately asked to see her in the play area and her demeanor changed. She was beyond excited and could not stop jumping and giving me kisses. I reached for a treat and ask her to sit and SHE DID IT! Game over! This dog is mine! Come to find out, she had also recently had puppies along with being adopted twice and returned. We couldn’t imagine the heartache she had already been through, so we had to take her home. The first night, she stayed in the crate, but that didn’t last long. On her second night with us, we woke up at 2:00am to her standing over our heads and giving us kisses. From that moment on, she has slept in our bed with us every night.

Now, four years later, she still gives us the same joy as she did on the first day we met her. She travels with us, loves meeting new friends at restaurants and the dog park, adores car rides, and still shows us love everyday.

We have recently decided that it’s time to increase our wolf pack to four and we are looking to adopt another rescue dog just like her! We thank God every day for Skylar!!
