Your Pet's Rescue StoryIn the spring of 2019 my pup of 12 1/2 years had passed away, and I was broken hearted. About three months later I felt in my heart as if I needed to rescue another pup to give that love I still had to another dog. Walking through the animal shelter, up and down the rows and rows of kennels, they were all precious but I wasn't feeling connected. That is until I saw this skinny, big-eared, long-legged, doe-eyed hound that just sat so perfectly at the front of his kennel. His tail was wagging, even though his eyes looked sad. I felt the connection I'd been looking for and knew I wanted to take him home. The animal shelter staff said that he was a field catch and would be available for adoption the following Monday. They had no idea how he was around cats, other dogs, kids, anything. He also had another family that had shown interest and was first in line when he became available. I felt sad and sure that it was not meant to be, but I still held out hope and gave them my info, "if the other family decides they don't want him, please call me!". I left the shelter that day with the image of his sad eyes on my mind. Monday came and went and I didn't hear anything. I felt so sad, until Tuesday afternoon when I got the call. The other family had not shown up and it was my turn on the docket. I jumped in my car with the brand new leash and collar I'd purchased (just in case). I brought him home, and he sniffed around, licked the cats face (much to the cat's chagrin) and then proceeded to jump onto the couch, curl in a ball, and let out a huge sigh of relief and comfort as he settled into his new home. His eyes have never looked sad again, and my heart became full again. Pavel is affectionate, funny, energetic, and smart. He loves to cuddle and play, running is his favorite, he is fantastic with every creature in existence, and loves his momma (just as much as I love him)! His name (because everyone asks) comes from his momma's love of Detroit Redwing hockey, named after #13 Pavel Datsyuk.
