Your Pet's Rescue StoryDuring the pandemic, I found it much more challenging to manage my glucose levels as a Type 1 Diabetic. I had recently lost a boxer who was my little brother for 10 years. He had passed 1 hour before my birthday. It was such a heartbreaking loss especially when you were playing with them that day and didn't know something so unexpected could go wrong. He had shown no signs of being sick. Losing a little brother (Brutus was his name) was so hard because he was and is my best friend. A few months after, I decided I would be relocating. In the process, I received word from an app that there was a lost puppy. I received the notification and thought nothing of it. Little did I know, this would completely change my life. A week after moving into my apartment, I decided that I would save a dog's life and adopt. As I was going through the shelter, I came across the dog from the app that was lost. Apparently, someone had taken it to a shelter. I went up to the cage and he stared at me. No barking just staring. I reached my hand out and I could see that he was scared and lonely. He came up to smell and lick my hand. After spending some time with him , I went home that night. I couldn't stop thinking about him. He was the angel to my prayers. The next day, I went back to the shelter and went up to his cage. He remembered me and was so happy to see me again. I took him outside to play, I looked into his eyes, as he looked into mine. I said to him, "Let's go home son." To this day, he has helped me manage and control my type 1 diabetes through stress management and active walking. I know that he was sent from above to be my guardian angel.
