Your Pet's Rescue Story
Dog - My Best Friend Rescue Red
"Jäger Meister" is a well-trained, though mischievous, terrier who can easily outsmart any human. He is absolutely obsessed with the game of fetch, strongly preferring a green tennis ball over any other color ball or toy. On a sunny day, you can find him chasing water from a hose, or even his own shadow, until the point of exhaustion. He's a hoot and has personality to spare! But, at the end of the day, all he wants to do is curl up in a tiny ball of love and cuddle. He has been there for me during trying times, and I am so thankful for my little buddy.
Jäger Meister came into my life in 2004. (yes, he's 14 years young)! Recently graduated from college, I was feeling lonely and lost; I was sure a dog could give me the companionship I needed. We met when he was only 4 weeks old. All of his siblings had died, but he still had his mother. The yard they lived in housed dozens of other dogs chained, caged, and in horrible conditions. It took every ounce of restraint I had not to jump to conclusions, judge, or cold-cock the woman standing in front of me. Instead, I paid her $250 for the pup with the promise of returning for Jager once he was a little older.
Two weeks later, I started getting nervous. I couldn't stop thinking about the conditions I had to leave that poor puppy in. Even worse, my messages weren't being returned - my check had been cashed.
Three of my friends and I piled into a car one afternoon even though I hasn't yet heart from Jager's owner/foster/breeder (whatever she was). It's great to have friends in your time of need! I was scared about the confrontation I knew was coming, but I wasn't going to leave my puppy. He needed to be rescued!
When we arrived, I was greeted by a gun at the front door. Though she clearly wanted to keep my money as well as the dog, I stood my ground. Jager ran to the door and into my arms. I scooped him up, turned around, and left. Threats were not enough to deter me; I had stood for what I knew was right and won.
Jager's gums were so white, I was afraid he wasn't going to make it to the hospital, but he was strong and recovered well. The rest, of course, is history. He has been there for me ever since, supporting me and my family wth love and, of course, lots of entertainment.
