Your Pet's Rescue Story
I lost my first dog in a horrible accident back in October 2015. It really broke me and I was so afraid I'd never be able to love another pet the way I did her. I was heartbroken and days were rough for months. It affected my every day life and even my relationship in ways. It was not at all.
Fast forward to summer 2016 and things were starting to get easier. Of course I still missed her, I still do now, but there was a void that was missing in our home. One morning my now husband and I were looking at puppies online and saw there was an adoption going on at Petsmart, and I agreed to go. There were tons of dogs there, and it was obvious all the younger smaller puppies were going to be adopted first. Then we saw this boy puppy that was 6 months old, a skinny scared thing. Already so far he was the opposite of my original baby. A boy and going to be a large dog but the one thing they had in common....both all white. At first I said no, I didnt want an all white dog, it was too close for comfort, but after getting some alone time with him, we knew he was the one for us. That's when Gatsby came into our home, our lives, and our hearts.
It still took time to adjust for me, when he did something bad, I kept thinking to myself "why can't you be more like her?", but as time went on, we developed this bond and I couldn't imagine my life without him.
He is the happiest, gentlest, most loving, sometimes sassiest, 70lb lap dog anyone could ever have. He brings a smile to everyone he meets and is just so happy anytime you give him attention.
Of course we rescued him but in so many ways, he rescued me and showed me that it's ok to love something else and have it still be ok to hurt just a little.
