JordanYour Pet's Rescue Story
During the first few months of the Pandemic, my family suffered a major loss with the sudden passing of our cat, Neko. My whole life I had never been without a cat, and now I was cat-less, in the middle of a global pandemic, with the news getting worse every day, and no cat to help make everything better. I lasted about a month before making a desperate bid on Facebook: does anyone know of an adult cat who needs a home?
We got several responses, but it was when my cousin Meg directed us towards her friend Sixy, a foster for the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, that we set eyes on Nilla Bean for the first time. She had been rescued looking like she'd swallowed a watermelon sideways, pregnant with her 3rd or 4th litter of kittens, and she was looking for a family were she could retire from being a mama.
She was so little when we first got her, we thought we had adopted a small, short haired Siamese. But after months and now years of love and safety, she's become a very large long haired Queen Bean, who fills our lives with laughter and love every singe day. Her favorite activites include reading (shredding) the newspaper on the kitchen table with Mommy every morning, watching the birds and squirrels from her screened in catio, and getting lots and lots of pets and attention, so long as she doesnt accidentally roll off of the bed again.
