Your Pet's Rescue StoryIn the month of December of 2010 my son, Taylor, and I went to the the SPCA of Central Florida (what is now the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando) in Sanford to find a cat that would be his. There were many wonderful cats there that day, each more beautiful than the next. There was one handsome young gray and white cat in an upper cage that was quite vocal. He appeared to be pleading his case that he was the one for us, while also reaching out from his cage with a paw in our direction. We passed by, but he only got louder, so we went back to request a private visit with him. His shelter name was Goliath, but this self-promoting fellow was anything but big. His personality on the other hand was huge, and we fell in love. Taylor adopted Goliath and subsequently chose a new name, Diablo. After waiting a week following his neutering, we arrived back at the shelter to bring Diablo home. While waiting with other adoptive families in the lobby, we noticed what looked like pet crates stacked up under a large cloth. We were surprised to hear a very verbal cat that was obviously punching out at the cloth. A nice young couple sitting next to us stated that it probably was the cat that they thought of adopting, and were glad they didn't because it was way too noisy. Taylor and I looked at each other with a touch of apprehension. Could it turn out this loud creature under the covers was our little guy and would potentially live up to his adopted name, Diablo ("Devil," in Spanish)? It turned out to indeed be the cat we were there to adopt. However, almost fifteen years later this sweet, loving, healthy, intelligent, fun, super soft, and...please note...extremely quiet cat is very much loved and an absolute "angel."
