Your Pet's Rescue Story
Buck, better known as Buckaroo is our sweet rescue pup from the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. Buck has been with our family for over 6 years now; he is a Shar-Pei mix with the biggest heart. Buck is currently 10 years old and is as much of a goofball as he was when we first brought him home. Buck enjoys cuddling with his brother Champ (also a rescue form the Pet Alliance), carrying a stuffed animal around in his mouth 24/7 and long family walks. Throughout his time with our family he has taught us compassion, true joy and what unconditional love is.

Buck was originally brought to the Sanford location when the non-profit was the SPCA. He was brought in on December 23rd of 2009 and spent the next three months at the location. Buck was surrendered and his full story was not released. He was timid, reserved and a little scared. The shelter featured Buck and comforted him in all the ways they could; TV appearances, training classes and dressing him up with a cute red bandana. After the three months at the Sandford location Buck was transferred over to the Millennia location. During this time I occasionally volunteered at the Millennia location I was in college and not actively seeking a dog, but loved to give back to the ones that needed it most. I just happened pop in one Saturday and saw the cutest Shar-Pei mix (which has always been one of my favorite breeds) sitting in one of the first kennels. My heart melted, when I read the back of his card it said he was surrendered back in December, I thought of all the holidays he spent away from a family. I read more to find out he has minimal training, was not good with kids or other dogs, and possibly could have had an abusive past. I knew at that moment that I wanted to give him a better life for the rest of his life.

Since then, 6 years later not only has Buck’s, but my own. He truly his one of the best things to happen to me and I adore every day spent with him. This fall I am getting married and our boys Buck and Champ will be walking down the aisle to celebrate with us as a family. Rescuing a pup is one of the greatest treasures of my life.
