Your Pet's Rescue Story
This is Mr. Mendel! He is some where between 6 and 8. I was lucky enough to find this guy at my local kill shelter when I lived in Texas. I found him on a Saturday after looking for a while, it said his last day was going to be the upcoming Monday. After I meet him I knew his last day would not be Monday! I payed for him right then and there! When I got him from the vet on Wenesday I found out he was in pretty bad shape. He was so matted I could not feel his body, and he was covered in full engorged ticks! The ticks lead to a staff infection! The first day was pretty rough and grosse, but that night before bed I was sitting on the floor telling him he was safe and the little guy gave me the sweetest little kiss. He had my heart from that moment on. After he was shaved and healing I noticed he still didn't seem to be ok. After taking him back to the vet I learned he had kennel caugh and Rocky Mountin Spotted Feaver. 6 months later he was all better and I started to see his real personality. He must have really seen some trama he was defensive around other dogs and scared of everything and has a chunk missing from his ear. Two years later he has come really far. The little guy is my hero, he had over come things I will never know and has the biggest heart! He protects me from strangers, thunderstorms and loud sounds. I don't know what I would do with out him.
