My story: My old owners ignored me, so one day I escaped, and they never came looking for me. I was found wandering around a middle school, scared, sick, dirty, and starving for attention. I was taken to the shelter, where I was even more scared. There were so many dogs barking, and no one wanted to take me home! I don't understand why because I am a great listener and even better cuddler. A local rescue group took me out of the shelter, and that's how my parents found me: on the rescue group's website. They came to meet me a few days later--Valentine's Day, to be exact, a day of love and happiness. And for me--and them--it truly was. They took me home and named me Gimlet. I went from being lonely, sick, and so, so sad to being the happiest dog in the world. My parents give me treats and almost as many kisses as I give them. We go for long walks and car rides, and we get frozen yogurt when I'm looking extra cute (but then I need a bath because I get it all over my face). They tell me every day how much they love me, and how I'm the best dog ever. I'm their good boy. They tell me the day they got me was one of the greatest days of their lives. So I know now that there is hope for other rescue dogs like me. To quote one of my favorite songs, "Don't stop believin', Hold onto that feelin'!"
