Your Pet's Rescue StoryCharlie was rescued from the Sanford SPCA. He was there for 10 months and they reported there was no interest in anyone adopting him. They told us they found him wandering the streets as a puppy with cuts on his face and other obvious signs of neglect and struggles to survive. There was no telling how long he had been alone and uncared for before he was picked up by the SPCA. We noticed that Charlie approached the cage calmly and leaned sweetly against the cage, begging to be petted. He didn't bark but his entire back end was wagging back and forth with the force of his happy tail. We knew immediately he had to be ours. He was only a little over a year and a half years old and needed a lot of exercise. Fortunately, he got along famously with our brood of three and would go on walks for hours and endlessly chase a tennis ball. At night he loves to cuddle, whether with his other doggie friends or with his humans. Unfortunately, we have lost his sisters over the last few years, but his sweet spirit and playful attitude have gone a long way to healing our hearts.
