Your Pet's Rescue StoryOne night, during a violent Florida thunderstorm, I heard a squeal at my front door. I went to check out the noise and that is when I saw this small, scrawny cat covered in mud. I called my parents to bring him some of our current cats food. We set down the plate and he immediately dug his head into the bowl. Pebbles flew everywhere as this starving cat scarfed down all of the food. We left some water, shut the door, and hoped the cat would be on his way. That morning we looked out our backyard and to our surprise this cat was sleeping there. We went outside, played with him, fed him, but didn't want to bring him in our home because we didn't want him to disease our current cats. As time went on Dixie wouldn't leave. He made a home for himself in our bushes, sat by our window meowing at night as we watched tv, and even bolted into our house once when we opened the door to go feed him. Dixie remained our outdoor cat for about a month until finally we realized he had to become a permanent part of our family. We brought the little rapscallion to the vet, cleared him, and gave him all his shots. When we finally introduced our current cats to Dixie, became and instant part of the family. Venus, our older cat, gave him a tour of the house and he made himself at home. This picture of Dixie is about a year after we rescued him. As you can see, he is the happiest little rascal and brings us happiness every single day!
