HOW IT WORKS:

Enter your pet's photo into our photo contest.
Votes will determine if your pet's photo will be featured in our calendar. Anyone can vote, so encourage your friends, family, and fellow pet lovers to vote for your pet for a chance to be featured in our pet photo calendar!
The entry period is from 12:01:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 1, 2023 to 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 29, 2023.
There are 13 full pages to win (the cover and each month) by popular vote. In order to feature the variety of companion animals that receive services from Napa Humane in the calendar, there are three categories: Dogs, Cats and Rabbits.
The overall top fundraiser regardless of category will be awarded the cover.
The next five spots from the Dog and Cat categories, and the next two spots from the Rabbit category will be awarded a full-page Pet of the Month page in the 2024 Napa Humane Calendar. Winning pet photos will be assigned to each month's Pet of the Month page by Napa Humane staff.
Entries that are not one of the top 13 winners will still be featured in the collage pages.
Please see the image specifications in the following section to ensure your photo will meet the requirements for a full-page image.
All proceeds from entry fees and votes will help us provide life-saving preventative services for companion animals below market-rate including spay/neuter surgeries, microchips and vaccines at Napa Humane, as well as Humane Education and behavioral help for pets and the people who care for and about them.

HOW TO ENTER PHOTOS:

Entries can only be made online and must be received by 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 29, 2023. To submit photos, click on the Participate tab above and follow the directions to upload a photograph of your pet.
There is a $35 fee for submitting a photo to be included in the Napa Humane 2023 Pet Photo Contest.
You may make an additional donation during the entry process with each dollar counting as one vote.
All eligible photos submitted by 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 29, 2023 will be included in the 2024 calendar, either in a collage page or as a full-page Pet of the Month.
Fees and votes are considered donations and are fully tax-deductible as permitted by law. Napa Humane is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All entrants will receive email receipts for their contributions, so please save your donation acknowledgment email for your tax files.
Napa Humane reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of an animal. The registration fee will not be refunded. Donations (votes) are non-refundable.
All photos submitted become the property of Napa Humane, which may, at its discretion, copy, edit, publish, or modify entries for use in any and all media, without limitation or compensation to the photographer or the animals appearing in the photo. By submitting a photo to the 2023 Pet Photo Contest, you acknowledge and give permission to Napa Humane to use the name, story, and photo of the animal in future publications, including the 2024 Napa Humane calendar. The submitter of the photos does not relinquish rights to use the photos.

IMAGE RULES:

Photos should be in landscape (horizontal) orientation.
Only photos of domestic dogs, cats, and rabbits are allowed (images containing people, farm animals, or wildlife will be removed from the contest without the opportunity for a refund).
Photos deemed unsafe, indecent, offensive, or obscene will be removed from the contest.
Photos should ideally be high-resolution (300 dpi or greater at 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches high) and/or a minimum file size of 4 MB, and in a standard file format such as .jpg or .png.
Photos must be full color – not heavily filtered, edited, or altered. We cannot accept photos with digital overlays, photo stickers, doodles, or any digital effects.
Some phone photos may not meet these size standards. Please check your phone’s camera settings for default image file size or pixels. The larger the file size (at least 4 MB) or pixel dimensions, the better.
If your pet wins the Cover or the Pet of the Month, but your photo is not high enough quality, we will ask you for a new photo which must be provided by October 20, 2023 to meet the calendar printing deadlines.
Photos may contain one or more pets.
Photos with professional watermarks will not be eligible to be included in the calendar. Photos must feature pets owned by the photographer OR the entrant must have written permission to submit the photo. (Photographs with photographer’s watermarks will NOT be eligible to be included in the calendar.)
To be considered for the Cover or as Pet of the Month, all cats and dogs shown outdoors MUST be wearing tags and collars. If we love your photo but your pet does not have a collar or tag, we will digitally them into the photo.
As Napa Humane’s core program is its Spay/Neuter Clinic, any photo of an intact male will NOT be eligible to be included in the calendar. Please spay and neuter your pets!
Mail-in submissions cannot be considered for the 2023 Pet Photo Contest and 2024 calendar.
Photos that do not follow these rules will not be eligible to win with no opportunity for a refund.

VOTING:

All donations must be made in $5 increments, with each $5 donation counting as five votes. You can place all votes on one entry or divide them among multiple entries.
All votes for photo submissions will be tabulated and displayed online.
All donations (votes) are non-refundable.
Napa Humane is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible. The email acknowledgment reply to your online donation serves as your tax receipt.
Voting is only accepted online through the 2023 Pet Photo Contest website. Voting by mail, in-person, or by phone will not be accepted. Apologies for any inconvenience.

RESERVE A DAY:

Reserve A Day spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the day you reserve has already been claimed, it will no longer be available for reservation.
Each Reserve A Day spot costs $10 and does not require entry into the general Pet Photo Contest.

2024 CALENDARS:

One free printed calendar is included for every photo entry. Additional calendars can be purchased.
Calendars will be shipped for an additional fee or available for pickup at Napa Humane at no additional charge. Purchasers who select the pickup option will be contacted via email with information on when calendars will be available for pickup.
