Your Pet's Story or Bio
Annie came into our lives in 2018 at the age of 3 months. I had desperately wanted another newfie, having had two wonderful ones before. We spotted her online, being available for adoption through a NJ humane society. Turned out it was a bit shady of an organization - having us meet up at a pet store as they didn't have a physical location; and they couldn't tell us where she came from. (We suspected she was an off-cast from a puppy mill as she has two partial club feet and only half a tail.) We knew we had to rescue her. And it was love at first sight anyway. There was no way we were going to leave her there.
As a pup, she brought joy to patients in my husband's chiropractic office as she enthusiastically greeted everyone who would show any sign of being a dog-person. Eventually she got too big to be greeting patients with her over-exuberance, but they always asked about her and were delighted to hear about her puppy antics.
My husband and I since retired and moved to Maine where Annie, now 7 years old, enjoys hiking trails, meeting people, barking at wild turkeys, playing with our cats and sitting to watch deer in the yard. She misses her buddy, Tucker though. He was our collie mix who had been a part of her life from the start until this past April when he passed. Annie is hoping for and nudging us to welcome another newfie into the home now. We're hoping for that too.
