I started as just a puppy in Georgia. Small paws, big ears, and a whole life I didn’t understand yet. I remember warmth, littermates, and days that blended together like soft noise and sleepy naps. I didn’t know I was being watched.

But someone was watching me.

She saw me in a photo first. Then another. And another as I grew. Every update, every awkward stretch into bigger paws and longer legs. I didn’t know her name yet, but she already knew mine.

When the day came, everything changed. Hands lifted me, voices softened, and then we were moving. Georgia faded behind us mile by mile. I didn’t know what “Vermont” meant, but I knew the feeling in my chest was something important.

The drive was long. The world kept changing outside the windows….states, weather, light. I just stayed curled up, trusting where I was going.

And then I met her. Not a picture. Not a voice. Her.

She knelt down like she had been waiting a long time, and I knew it was true. Like I had been traveling toward her long before I ever got in the car.

Vermont became home after that. Cold air, soft beds, steady hands. I’ve grown up here. Into a good boy. Into Finny.

And into something more.

Because I didn’t just grow up, I grew into helping others. Little foster puppies started coming through our home. Scared ones. Confused ones. Tiny ones who didn’t know what safe felt like yet. I showed them.

I showed them how to play, how to rest, how to trust. I let them follow me until they were brave enough to venture on their own.

I’m the boy from Georgia helping others find their way home.
