Drake was part of NCWR and we fostered him. His owner stated he was mean, aggressive and wouldn't respond to any training & wouldn't even come to his own name. When he arrived he was sure enough "crazy!" Day 2, he jumped our fence and was gone for 5 days during which was a snow storm. When he arrived home he was broken, starving, but ready for attention. In the coming weeks, when we were finally able to touch his head, we realized he had massive ear infections in both ears and was deaf. We started working with hand commands and he responded immediately. It took 8 months to clear out all the blackgunk in his ears. We became a "failed foster dog" and we kept him. Drake is literally one of the best dogs we've ever owned - he's now around 12 and we LOVE him to pieces!
