Contest FAQs

How do I enter? The field has been determined for the championship round of NEW Top Dog 2022! The top 10 dogs from each of the six local contests have advanced to the championship round, and all 60 pups are competing for the title of NEW Top Dog. While entry for the competition is no longer open, votes are still being accepted - there’s still a lot at stake! Be sure to cast your votes today, and help us determine who takes the crown (and which shelter will earn a $5,000 prize!).

How were the championship round contestants selected?
The top 10 vote-earning dogs from each of the six local contests (these contests ran from 9/10-10/9) advanced to the championship round.

What is at stake in the championship round? During the championship round, there are individual prizes up for grabs. The top 3 vote-earning pups will win significant cash and gift card prizes for their owner(s). Most importantly, though, the top vote-earning shelter (the shelter with the most votes across all 10 dogs in the championship round) will win a $5,000 cash prize!

How do I vote?

To cast your votes, visit the contest page, click “View Entries & Vote,” and choose your favorite contestant(s)! If you’d like to vote for a dog (or dogs!) representing a specific shelter, you can click on the “Category” dropdown menu and select your favorite shelter. This will show you all 10 dogs that are representing that shelter in the championship round. Then, simply pick your favorite(s) and cast your votes!

Can I vote to support more than one shelter? Absolutely! There is no limit to the number of votes you can purchase, the number of times you vote, and/or the number of entries you vote on! Every dollar generated from voting goes towards helping pets and kids, so the more, the merrier.

Can I vote more than once? Absolutely! There is no limit to the number of votes you can purchase, the number of times you vote, and/or the number of entries you vote on! Every dollar generated from voting helps pets and kids, so the more, the merrier.

How do I view my entries and/or votes? Once you are logged into the contest site, use the navigation menu on the upper right hand corner and click “Manage My Account.” From this screen, you will be given the option to view your entries and/or votes.

What is the vote bank? The vote bank is an infrequently used option. This feature allows voters to purchase all of their votes (for a single contest) at one time, on a single credit card transaction. Banked votes can only be used in the contest they were originally purchased in (that means that banked votes from the local round cannot be transferred to the championship round). Once you’ve banked your votes, you can allocate them to multiple entries (within the championship round), or you can save them for allocation at a later date. Banked votes must be used before the contest ends. Any unallocated votes will be considered a contest donation.

Will votes be carried into the championship round? When the championship round began, all 60 dogs had their votes reset to 0. The only votes that count towards the championship round totals are votes generated between October 10-16.

Can I enter offline donations? Due to the administrative efforts involved in adding offline donations to the contest, all votes must be submitted online, directly through the online contest page. If you have questions about applying an employer matched donation to the contest, please contact the Event Coordinator at info@newtopdog.com.

My employer offers a donation matching program. Can a matching donation be applied to the contest? Please contact info@newtopdog.com, and the Event Coordinator will provide you with more information.

How are the proceeds allocated? For each individual contest (local round), proceeds from entries and voting benefit the named shelter and Kiwanis. Championship round proceeds benefit the participating shelters according to the votes earned by the 10 dogs that advanced from the local round. Kiwanis will receive a portion of championship round votes across all 60 dogs.

How do winners collect prizes? The Event Coordinator will attempt to notify winning participants by email or telephone within 14 days of the contest end date. Prize winners will be given instructions about where to pick up prizes (as per the schedule noted below).

  • For the local round, all winners will be contacted by October 23, 2021
  • For the championship round, all winners will be contacted by October 30, 2021
  • Any prizes that are unclaimed after November 6, 2021 will be forfeited.

When will the NEW Top Dog 2022 beer be released? All six NEW Top Dog beers will be released in Spring (2022). Stay tuned for more information!

How do I get a receipt for my contributions? A receipt will be automatically emailed to you from info@newtopdog.com after each contribution to the contest. These receipts will show your contribution amount to New Top Dog – Oshkosh Mid-Morning Kiwanis Foundation, Inc., which is the charitable 501c3 organization collecting and redistributing the funds to participating shelters/rescues and Kiwanis.

Who is Oshkosh Mid-Morning Kiwanis? Club officers and members of Oshkosh Mid-Morning Kiwanis are the organizers (and a beneficiary) of the NEW Top Dog 2022 contest.

The Oshkosh Mid-Morning Kiwanis Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to “Serve the Children of the World.” Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Can I change my dog’s photo after entering the contest? Unfortunately, there is not a way for participants to change the photo that is used in their entry, and due to the administrative efforts involved in running this contest, our administrators will not be able to manage requests for photo changes.
