My dog is the coolest because...
Molly Donut the Poodle (baby pood or Molly doodle for short) has made the world a happier, sillier, and sassier place since she was born in the middle of a crazy pandemic in 2020! She had no idea how important she was when she was born, and had how much joy she would bring to so many people.

She is incredibly smart for being only one year old- smarter than her (human) mom & dad most days. She has learned sit, stay, down, touch, drop it, roll over, come, go potty, look at me, place, leave it, speak, wait, crawl, kisses, spin, dance, sock (she will take your socks off, and is so careful not to nip your toes!), scrunchy (her FAVORITE toy is mom’s hair ties), shake, bang and high five. She knows her friends and family by their names, & knows so many phrases that we can (and do!) practically talk to her all day long.

This silly pood is a bit of a weirdo, and she would prefer a fresh fruit or veggie over a dog treat any day. We went through many bags of treats before we discovered that bell peppers were her “highest value treat”, and raw broccoli is a close second. Her bowl of kibble is always full in the kitchen, but how does she prefer to eat? She prefers to eat like her very distant cousins (who are chickens), and mom sprinkles kibble in the grass so she can eat like a chicken. Don’t ask questions, we can’t explain it LOL. She also LOVES to keep her mind busy. We have many different puzzles that we fill with kibble, and she has to complete the puzzles before her kibble comes out. If we don’t work on training or puzzles a little bit each day, she reminds mom by dragging a puzzle out or sitting in the living room and ‘yelling’ for her to come and play.

She may be smart, but that’s not all that makes her the best pup in town. She is SASSY, and boy does she know how to tell us exactly what she wants. She asks for help when she loses her toys or can’t reach something, she complains (loudly!) if we talk too much at night disturbing her beauty rest, and she reminds us if we forget to turn the heating pad on for her in the morning. We told ya she was smart, didn’t we? We weren’t lyin’!

Molly also really knows how to have fun! She LOVES playing hide and seek, climbing up our play set and slide downing the slide, balancing and jumping on our yoga ball, playing soccer with her soccer ball, catching bubbles, playing fetch with apples from our tree, and swimming in her baby pool/bobbing for ice cubes. She loves chasing the hose back and forth across the yard (or snowballs in winter), helping mom in the garden (even if she spends her time munching on kohlrabi, bell peppers, and kale like a weirdo), car rides, and snuggling with her grandmas (her VERY favorite humans). One of her favorite tricks to play is stealing mom’s scrunchy too! She waits until she is within reach, and then Molly makes a mad dash to swipe it right off of her braid, and she RACES in circles around mom to tease her and show her what she did. She thinks it’s the funniest thing!

After a fun day of playing and learning, she requests a pretzel snack on the couch before she snuggles up on her mom’s lap (again, we’re not lyin’. If we forget the pretzel… her majesty is NOT pleased. She will bark at us until we fetch her the pretzel). She obviously cannot sleep anywhere unless it is exactly in the middle of mom and dad, and of course….it would never be at their feet. She’s a real “people” kind of pup, and as a people…..she needs a pillow just like the rest of us. She digs under the sheets until she reaches the bottom of the mattress, and then turns around until she finds her (see also: Mom’s) pillow. When she is satisfied that she is fully covered under the sheets and on the pillow, she plops into her spot and is out like a light. She is NOT a morning person, and when we get up for work she drags her little tail from our bed and goes right to the couch to continue her “nap” from the night before.

What do we love most about this girl? We love that when friends come over, she gets REAL excited to show them everything she loves. This (unfortunately) includes her racing to grab one of her favorite bones, which she then “strongly suggests” that you might like it too…by trying to put it directly in your mouth for a taste! We love that she is funny, and loves to play, but that she also never passes up a chance to snuggle. She reminds us to stop and smell the flowers (literally, she walks on her back legs to sniff our flowers!), to enjoy the small things, and to love with our whole hearts. She loves to lay in the grass in the sun, especially if mom lays with her. She burrows under her arm to be as close as she can, and then she flips on her back so she can get some sun and belly rubs. Quality time with her people is her very favorite thing, and she reminds us that it’s so important.

Molly isn’t just a dog, she is our whole world. She brings us joy, makes us laugh, and is the love of our life.
