My dog is the coolest because...
Baylee Mae is my rescue. Although I have really wondered if I rescued her or if she rescued me. Ive been told by friends and family that we both needed eachother. Let me take you back to her birth. Baylee Mae was born into a very abusive environment. I can't tell you what all she endured but the sight of the permanent scars all over her body can leave you with knowing that it was one of complete physical abuse and never being shown any type of love. So up until the Green Bay Humane society got her (January 2017) she didn't know what love and kindness really was. Now to my side of the story that brought Baylee Mae and I together. On April 27, 2017 my fur baby Molly rapidly developed complications from an unexpected emergency surgery she had to undergo a few days prior. I had to make the decision to put her to sleep. She had blood clots traveling to her brain which caused her to be completely paralyzed on her right side. My heart was broken, I was completely shattered and it would begin my decline with my health, first suffering a mini stroke just a few days after Mollys passing. I strongly believe I was dying of a broken heart. I even talked to my doctor about it and she said that it is a thing although it is not recognized in the medical field. To get back on track Molly was born July 25, 2007 (this date will be significant later in the story) which made Molly 9 years and 9 months old. By July 2017 which was only a couple months after Molly's passing I began feeling the need to fill the huge void that unexpectedly struck my life. I began searching for another fur baby. I wanted to feel loved and to give love to a pet again. When I came across Baylee Mae's bio my heart melted. She was at that moment the only dog that stuck out to me. Reading that she was abused I was more than willing to show and teach her what love is and felt like. So I filled out the adoption application and after a few days of not hearing anything I put it out of my mind. July 24, 2017 the Green Bay Humane Society called me to discuss my application and to ask me further questions. The next day I was scheduled an appointment to meet with the staff and to spend some time with Baylee Mae so they could see how she would interact with me and vice versa. July 25, 2017 was the day to meet and greet Baylee Mae. After talking with staff members they decided it was time to bring us together. I stood outside waiting for the staff to bring Baylee Mae out to me. When I spotted her for me it was love at first sight. She was what they call "Tuxedo". She is black down her back, chocolate on her sides, with a white chest. Oh I forgot to mention that Baylee Mae is a mix of pitbull and lab. I have always been around small dogs and Molly was a mix of Chihuahua, terrior, and bluetick. So having a bigger dog would be a learning experience for me. Anyway, during my visit with Baylee Mae I was encouraged to give her treats, walk around with her on a leash. After a while the staff member told me that she has never seen Baylee Mae interact with someone like she did me and she included that she felt Baylee Mae and I would be a perfect fit. To shorten up this very long story I ultimately adopted Baylee Mae that day (July 25). Now if you made it this far you know that July 25 was Molly's birthday. That was not planned so something inside of me tells me it was a sign of approval from Molly that it was OK to move on and to love Baylee Mae. I can tell you this, Baylee Mae is spoiled. She knows what love feels like and she definitely gives it out as well. If I'm sitting she will get on her back legs and throw her front legs over my shoulders to hug me and knock me over backwards. I strongly believe that she would totally protect me if I were ever to be attacked. She has pinched my sisters hand with her teeth just for play hitting me. I had an instance when I came out of the bathroom a friend of mine was hiding around the corner and scared me. Baylee Mae ended up backing him into a corner. Anyway as for the picture I chose, I wanted to let people see how a dog can go from being physically abused and unloved to being showered with love and affection. Baylee Mae is completely spoiled and as you can see in the picture she is soaking it all up. Something brought Baylee Mae and I together. You can say we both needed eachother like many people have said, but I am sticking with this, not only did I rescue her, she rescued me.
