A little about me...
Ruby came into our lives after our previous cat passed away at the age of 18 years old. I went by NHSPC only “to look” and not leave w/a cat. The NHSPC had just come into a hoarding situation with 75 cats and kittens. I went into the room and the gentleman told me that there were cats/kittens in there. I didn’t see a one. I got onto my hands and knees and looked under the cases and what I saw were at lease two dozen eyes looking at me and me looking at them. My heart just melted. Over in the corner was a little ball of fluff. There was a little girl who name was Ruby with her mother who asked me if I could get that cat for her. I was able to reach over and scoop this little one up into my arms. Both Ruby and I sat down on the bench and we started talking about the little ball of fluff in my arms. I put the kitten onto her lap and Ruby was simply elated. We continue to talk about what it took to take care of a new kitten and what responsibilities were. She taught me a lot that day. I asked Ruby’s mother if they were interested in taking this little ball of fluff home and she indicated to me that they were only looking that day also. It was at this point I knew I wasn’t leaving without this little fluff ball. Ruby was so excited when I told her that I was taking my Ruby home. Once home, I sent picture of Ruby to my daughter and said they named her “Monday” at the NHSPC. I told my daughter the story about the little girl and we both decided to name our little ball of fluff “Ruby” after the little girl. Hence the name Ruby. She is our absolute darling. We just her dearly and she has made our house a home again. Thank you NHSPC for all that you do.
