NICU Hospital for my journeyGeisinger Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyNova spent 53 days, 1,272 hours, 76,320 minutes in Geisinger Medical Centers NICU. Right from the beginning, Nova was a fighter! Almost born at 24 weeks, she held on one more month inside her safe space before joining us in this world. Once she was born, CPAP, feeding tube and phototherapy were needed. Only a few hours under the bili lights but a few weeks on the CPAP just to help not burn energy and let her grow! Due to the prematurity, physical therapy was needed to learn how to move properly, learn how to walk, and build strength to do everyday activities. Feeding team was a challenge to get to eat baby food and then regular food but boy did we love it! To this day, Nova is the light of our lives. Bringing so much joy and laughter. Her journey made her who she is! We are still working on speech but she is your average, sassy toddler who enjoys playing outside, watching Bluey and blipping, and being with her family. We love you Nova
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? What makes me proud of my NICU graduate is that she never once backed down. She always does the best she can and works so hard to face her challenges. From learning how to walk right to now practicing how to say words and sentences, she never gives up.
