My NICU Graduate's JourneyEthan was born at 32 weeks due to severe preeclampsia and cord blood reversal. He was in the NICU for 27 days to grow, learn to eat and antibiotic treatment for cellulitis. Going home as first time parents without our baby and waking every two hours by alarm to pump was not how we envisioned the first month with our son. Here we are 2.5 years later and you wouldn’t even know that he entered this work at 3 pounds, 4 ounces. This strong little guy is a NICU, and Epilepsy Warrior and we couldn’t be more proud of our kind and outgoing little man.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Ethan, you were the tiniest baby we had ever seen and now you’re the sweetest most playful, energetic little boy we have ever met. You have battled low birth weight, prematurity, infections, lung issues, and seizures with strength we have never seen in someone so small until we entered the NICU. We know that any challenges you face, will be overcome by the strength we have witnessed since your very first day of life. We aro proud to be your parents and can’t wait to see what your future has in store you!
