My NICU Graduate's JourneyCamila was born small but mighty! She was born at 27 weeks due to severe preeclampsia. I was in a coma for the first week of her life and she was resuscitated her first day out of the womb. Camila spent the first 3 months of her life in the NICU an hour away from home. We traveled everyday to be by her side. We watched as she grew and got stronger. Camila never had any issues with her brain, eyes, lungs, or heart. She was as healthy as a micro-preemie could be and we just waited for the day she could come home! She came home on her due date weighing 4lbs perfectly healthy and she has been strong, brave, and resilient ever since! She is now a starting kindergarten and happy as can be.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Camila has always been such a happy baby and she continues to be happy and positive as she grows up. Everyone she meets she makes them smile and laugh. She has never met a stranger. She is kind and so so generous. Always thinking of others. She is so tough. She worked hard to stay on track with her milestones and you would never know she was a 27 week micropreemie. When Camila sets her mind to something you bet she will accomplish the task. No matter how big or small.
