My NICU Graduate's Journey
The twins were born at 29 1/2 weeks gestation. They weighed 3 pounds 11 ounces and 1 pound 4 ounces. One twin spent 81 days in the hosptial, the other spent 167 days. The twin with the longer stay is much more medically complex than her twin. However, both girls are thriving now! We were in the hospital while COVID was still in its height. Because of this, there were no additional visitors in the NICU until 4 months into our NICU stay. We became very close with the staff of the unit during our time. While the journey was hard, we are thankful and blessed to have 2 girls who are doing well and learning more each day!

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
EVERYTHING. They overcame so much and had to fight each day. Their journey was long and hard, but I know that they are stronger because of it. One day they will understand just how much their NICU stay means, and what they endured.
