NICU Hospital for my journeyBeaumont Hospital - Dearborn, MI
My NICU Graduate's JourneyOlivia and Chloe were born at 26 weeks, weighing 1lb 1oz and 1lb 8oz. I was admitted to the hospital for 3 weeks due to high blood pressure, and growth restriction for both babies. During my hospital stay, we were given very little hope for our girls. Olivia had a 5% chance of survival and Chloe had a 30% chance. They were born on May 26th during an emergency c-section after a biophysical profile showed Olivia in fetal distress. The girls were in the NICU for 4 months - ventilated for 3 of those months. Their stay was a constant roller coaster as they both battled with multiple infections, collapsed lungs, extended time on an oscillator, ROP - the list could go on! We had many dark days during our NICU stay, but with the amount of prayers and support we received, our girls would always take a turn for the better. Olivia was transferred to two different hospitals for two different eye surgeries during their NICU stay as well. Both girls came home on oxygen support which lasted for about 4 months. Our girls are now turning 9 this May, and are flourishing! They are our miracle babies - they overcame so many obstacles and defied all odds against them. We are so blessed to have our girls. They continue to amaze everyone who meets them after learning about their story. We are so grateful for our team of NICU doctors and nurses. They were our rock during the hardest time of our lives! 🩷
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Olivia and Chloe are nothing short of a miracle. Despite all of what they’ve gone through, they live each day with such joy and serve as our reminder to never give up. They know their story, and truly believe they’re miracle children 🩷 Olivia was diagnosed at a young age with cerebral palsy, but you would never know it as she doesn’t let it define who she is. Both girls had developmental delays, but we’re so grateful for all of the therapies and services they’ve had over the years to help them get to where they are today. They are thriving!
