NICU Hospital for my journeyUAB Children’s Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyKayden was born at 28 weeks due to an emergency C-section because he had stopped breathing. He was in the incubator for 3 1/2 months but was in the hospital for 4. He was so small only weighing 1.2 pounds. Kayden was put on oxygen while he was in the hospital and also after he got discharged. They also had to give him caffeine because his heart rate was declining without that extra push. After he was born we were constantly going back to the doctor for therapy and different studies because he was still so small but today he has grown so much. He’s doing really well and getting so big.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?I’m proud because Kayden is so strong, only God got us through the tough times of being in the NICU. Thanks to the doctors and nurses as well. I see Kayden get up everyday and try to talk more , eat more, and to keep up with other kids his age. He does has autism so it’s a little challenging sometimes but Kayden doesn’t allow him being on the Autism Spectrum get in his way and that is what makes me proud.
