My NICU Graduate's Journey
Abijah was born premature at 29 weeks and 4 days due to pre-eclampsia. He stayed in the NICU for 366 days (May 2020- May 2021) due to respiratory issues. He came home with a trach (on oxygen) and a gtube. While was taken off oxygen in late 2021, the gtube was removed in October 2022. He currently still had the gtube due to a severe oral aversion. However, we are working with speech therapy to help navigate him to oral feedings.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I am extremely proud of Abijah as he overcame so much during his 366 NICU and today he is still working to overcome many of the challenges endured while being in the NICU.
