My NICU Graduate's Journey
Atticus was born at 23 weeks 5 days weighing only 15.9oz. He was intubated for a month, battled pneumonia several times, dealt with a PDA, and ROP. Despite it all he handled it like it was nothing and always kept us (including his nurses and doctors) on our toes at all times.
Atticus spent 149 days in the NICU, first in Joplin and then in Kansas City at Overland Park for ROP treatment, which included the injections as well as laser therapy treatment after he came home. He still has some surgeries yet to come but we are so thankful to have our sassy, dramatic boy home with us. Our boy is the sweetest thing, he loves to snuggle and gives the best hugs.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Through every challenge he was handed he still managed to pull through with such spunk and sass. Since day 1 he's been pushing past every expectation put on him. He showed not just me, but a whole lot of people that tiny is very mighty!
