NICU Hospital for my journeyLittle Rock Baptist Heath Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyKaizer, started his life on December 20th, 2023. He was born with a birth injury called HIE. He spent his first 2 weeks in the NICU where he was on several seizure medication, had his body cooling. It was a scary 2 weeks. Kaizer has frontal lobe brain damage and scarring on the white matter of his brain. They never thought he would get out the nicu within a few weeks and he showed them otherwise! Since then he has made tremendous improvements in his motor skills. At 17 months he has just started trying to crawl make noises and continues to be a vibrant kid. In a few weeks he will have a G-tube placed due to his epiglottis not functioning properly. With all this I still have faith that because of the care at BHLR my son is headed in the right direction.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Every little thing he does makes me so proud. Him trying to pull himself up on bed, trying to crawl, learning to allow different textures when it comes to eating or grabbing stuff. He’s beating the odds of what’s the doctor told me! That’s why I am always proud of any small improvement he does. He’s strong, brave and he’s a fighter. He never gives up !
