NICU Hospital for my journeySacred Heart Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyFrom the moment of conception our twins struggled. We had a great OB that continued to regulate and do continuous ultrasounds to ensure babies safety. One day (at 21wks) they noticed baby A had 18% of amniotic fluid and baby B had 3%. They immediately rushed us to Texas Children's hospital via emergency airplane transportation. The next morning they scheduled for us to have a Twin to Twin Transfusion with the risk of losing one of the babies. The doctors divided the placenta where the twins were sharing. This immediately began to help both of them get the nutrients they need. By the grace of God, we were able to make it to 33wks and 3 days until they were born! They were 7wks early and had many episodes and issues of breathing, heart desates, eating, and keeping body temperature up. They both continued to slowly reach milestones but had amazing NICU nurses that loved, cared, and nurtured them. There were volunteers who would come and cuddle the babies when we were unable to be there or other NICU babies families couldn’t be as well. The staff were amazing and continued to help our twins each step of the way until they could graduate the NICU and come home! Having babies in the NICU was very challenging and scary but knowing they were completely safe and taken care of gave us peace of mind. God blessed our sweet boys with well-equipped NICU nurses.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Against all odds, our twins were resilient through their time in the NICU and after.
