My NICU Graduate's JourneyMy NICU graduate was born at 28 weeks. She came in weighting 2 lbs 10oz. Her first few days she had to be under the blue light due to bilirubin. Fast forward 3 weeks she is diagnosed with NEC and has to have surgery on her large intestines. Surgery went well, now she is recovering. 1 week after surgery she is still diagnosed with NEC and has to go for a 2nd surgery now on her small intestines. Once surgery is done she is back to recovery and finally is able to feed on milk. After 3 long months of going to work and coming to the hospital 2x a day, August 8 she finally graduates from NICU and is able to come home. Just when i thought everything was going well, about 4 weeks of being home she has to get another surgery on her incision for a hernia. Once that surgery is done she is able to come home. 7 years later she is a healthy growing smart loving caring young girl.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? What makes me proud of my NICU graduate is her personality. She is strong, she is caring, she is smart. She never gives up and always finds a way to succeed in what she does.
