NICU Hospital for my journey St Anthony's Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyAfter I was discharged and Kayson had to stay, that was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. As a new mom, leaving the hospital without my baby. Kayson was unable to regulate his own temperature, which in return dropped his oxygen level. After few days on the cpap. He was able to come on a nasal cannula, but then his bilirubin dropped. Under the sunny beach light he goes. Once he was able to maintain his oxygen, he had a hard time eating all his calories he needed to get big and strong. Kayson was diagnosed with low muscle tone. As a precaution we had his ventricles checked, due to older half-brother having problems with his. Scan came out clear. Close to discharge, Kayson's heartrate became irregular. He was kept on telemetry for a few more days. The last 36 hours I didn't leave the NICU I was determined to get my baby home and get those bottles down.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Within the first year Kayson got cleared from 4 specialists. He was a little behind on his milestones due to coming at 35 weeks. This 3 year is now thriving in all ways. Talking nonstop and always wanting to learn. Has a love for monster trucks and his blanket (Banks).
