NICU Hospital for my journeySt. Paul Children's Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyErin was born October 28th at 27 weeks gestation ( 3 months premature) and weighed 2lbs 3oz. She was 14inches long.
She lived in the NICU for 65 days learning how to breath and tolerate feedings. She finally went home for a few days but then had to return due to a very low thyroid level. Turns out Erin was born without a thyroid so needed to be regulated on thyroid medication before she could be sent home. Two weeks later, Erin was well enough to go home weighing 4 pounds. She grew slowly at her own pace until she caught up to others by age 7. She was a pretty healthy child from then on.
Erin graduated from the U of M with her Masters in education and is employed as a Special Ed teacher. She is enjoys being a stand out goalie on a women’s hockey league .
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Erin is great human . She is empathetic, kind and gives back to society. We are proud of our daughter for her many accomplishes. At age 30, Erin was the keynote speaker with her mother (NICU nurse of 30 years)at our Parents for Parents conference. “Thirty years of miracles and memories”.
