My NICU Graduate's JourneyOur NICU Warrior – 1 Year Later
One year ago, our lives changed forever when our son was born at just 26 weeks, weighing 2lbs 2oz. He spent 105 days in the NICU at Women & Infants Hospital, fighting through more than we ever imagined a tiny baby could endure.
During his time there, he faced NEC, multiple blood transfusions, a blood clot, chronic lung disease, and even battled influenza — but through it all, he showed a strength we’ll never forget. The amazing NICU team became like family to us, giving him not only medical care but love and hope when we needed it most.
Today, our little miracle is officially ONE YEAR OLD — healthy, happy, and thriving. We are beyond grateful for the care he received and for every person who helped him come home.
To every parent still in the NICU trenches: hold on. Miracles happen every day — we’re living proof.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? What makes me proud of my NICU graduate isn’t just that he survived — it’s how fiercely he fought to live. Born at just 26 weeks, he faced challenges that most people will never know: NEC, blood transfusions, a blood clot, chronic lung disease, and even influenza. Yet through every setback, every tube, and every beep of the monitor, he kept going.
I’m proud of his strength.
I’m proud of his resilience.
I’m proud of every tiny milestone he crushed in that NICU.
And I’m proud of the little boy he’s becoming — full of light, determination, and joy.
He may be small, but he’s already shown me what it means to be brave. Watching him grow this past year has been the greatest gift of my life.
