NICU Hospital for my journey
American Family Childrens Hospital

My NICU Graduate's Journey
Inaya’s journey began far earlier than expected. She was born extremely premature weighing just 11.3 ounces and measuring only 9 inches long. At her birth weight, doctors considered Inaya "not viable" and expected not to survive outside the womb. From the very beginning, she faced unimaginable challenges, including being born with more than 12 fractured bones and multiple complex medical diagnoses. During her 319-day NICU stay at American Family Children’s Hospital, Inaya endured countless procedures, multiple surgeries, and two major skull surgeries. She became trach and gtube at 2 months old and fought through obstacle after obstacle with a strength that amazed everyone around her.
Despite every setback, Inaya continued to show resilience far beyond her tiny size. Her journey has been filled with fear, uncertainty, victories, tears, and miracles. She is the definition of strength, perseverance, and hope, and her story continues to inspire everyone who meets her. She is our little feisty and extremely determined warrior! Although, she came home with all the loud machines, bells and whistles -- Inaya , now, at just 2 years 6months old has recently had her trach removed and continuing to knock down every milestone!!

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
What makes me most proud of Inaya is her fight. She has faced more in her short life than many people face in a lifetime, yet she continues to smile, grow, and push forward with so much strength and determination. Watching her overcome impossible odds has taught our family what true courage looks like.
Inaya’s resilience shines brighter than every diagnosis, surgery, scar, and challenge. She is not defined by the machines, the hospital stays, or the medical labels — she is defined by her spirit. She has turned pain into purpose and continues to inspire everyone around her simply by being herself.
