My NICU Graduate's Journey
My baby was born at 30 weeks and 2 days, 2 lbs 11 oz and was not breathing at birth, he also suffered a grade 2 brain bleed. He was severely anemic at about 35 weeks he had a bowel perforation that caused him to go into septic shock. He was on life support and He under went 2 emergency surgeries and to remove 7cm of his intestines that his went necrotic and liquified and an colostomy bag was placed. He was also diagnosed with Pituitary stalk syndrome at 40 weeks. They found a blood clot in his left and right legs and his liver, he had jaundice for a month and a half. He’s had about 10 blood transfusions, and one platelet transfusion. He went home 4 months later and went back for a 3rd surgery April 22, 2026. He had his appendix removed and his ostomy reversed. He is now reaching many milestones such as babbling, standing, and sitting with support and he is such a happy baby who loves everyone

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
He has overcome so many challenges, I am very proud to see how much he’s grown I can only remember when he was barely 3 pounds undergoing surgeries and on life support and you wouldn’t even be able to tell that he has been through these things he is always just smiling and laughing
