My NICU Graduate's JourneyCarter was born at 24 weeks weighing 1 pound 12 ounces and was 12 3/4 inches long, at Baptist East, Montgomery, AL. At the time they could not care for him due to his extreme prematurity, so he was transferred to their sister hospital Baptist South. He was in the NICU for 100 days. He had a number of issues, but his lungs, PDA, and brain bleed were the most challenging! He has had an additional 7 surgeries since leaving the NICU. He faces challenges daily and is constantly showing those who care about him what strength and resilience are all about. He just achieved his Green Belt with Youshukai Karate. He is an amazing kid who is so kind to everyone, loves his friends and family, and wants to be a comedian when he grows up. Babies born early have a great future, but they need supports early on in their lives. Any and all financial assistance goes towards these amazing children and supports their families and communities. Thank you for all everyone does, it means a lot to all of us NICU families!
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?I am so proud of his resilience and never giving up. He struggles with emotions at times, but he gets right back in there and copes with it the best he can. He is so kind and loving to everyone. He wants everyone to be happy and genuinely cares about other’s happiness. He is headed for greatness because he is so kind.
