My NICU Graduate's JourneyPreston was born at 27 weeks. My water broke at 25 weeks, we were able to keep him in long enough for the magnesium shots to help his lungs develop faster. He was born by Caesarean section. He was 2lbs 4oz. He was a true champ in the NICU he learned how to eat and maintain his body temperature pretty quick. He was born July 12th and went home on August 1st weighing 3lbs. He was so tiny I had to borrow a car bed from the state of Maryland to bring him home. He didn’t fit in any car seats. He has grown into a wonderful young boy and will be celebrating his 11th Birthday this year. He has had an amazing journey this past decade with specialist and hospital stays. He wears glasses because he was born early. Thankfully Preston has been overall healthy and happy.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?I am so proud of my baby for being a wonderful role model to young and old people. His strength and determination helped him thrive outside the NICU. He is a true blessing and addition to our family. He is absolutely adored by all four of his older siblings.
