NICU Hospital for my journeyUT Health Tyler
My NICU Graduate's JourneyShe was born at exactly 33 weeks and 1 day when I went into premature labor on a Saturday morning. We arrived at the hospital at 8 am, by 11:13 am she was delivered via c section. She had to be resuscitated when born because she did stop breathing. She was born at 4lbs 4 ozs. She was on the CPAP machine for about a day and a half, and then came off. She was our little over achiever, very soon she was in the feeder & grower room. And she packed on the weight pretty well. Her biggest challenge was eating, it took her exactly a month to take full feeds without her NG tube. One day my husband showed up to drop off her breast milk and she didn't have her NG tube anymore. She went home at exactly 37 weeks. Now she weighs 10 pounds and loves to eat and loves her mom and dad
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate? Her resilience. Since the beginning of our pregnancy I was labeled high risk. And she beat a lot of odds and milestones and continues to do so
