NICU Hospital for my journeySt. David's Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyAfter a whirlwind labor and delivery, our little boy was rushed to the NICU, where he spent 29 days surrounded by the most incredible doctors and nurses we could have asked for. It was an emotional rollercoaster filled with a lot of unknowns, but his care team supported us every step of the way.
During his stay, our biggest challenges were learning how to eat on his own and regulating his body temperature—two things we never realized would feel so monumental. Every small milestone felt huge, and we celebrated each step forward.
Leaving the hospital without our baby was one of the hardest things we’ve ever experienced, but bringing him home after 29 days was one of the most joyful moments of our lives. Since his discharge, he has continued to amaze us by surpassing expectations and thriving in every way. He recently celebrated his second birthday, and we’re endlessly grateful for how far he’s come.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate? And now, looking at him two years later, it’s hard to believe that tiny baby is the same little boy running around today. Since being discharged, he has continued to surpass every expectation placed in front of him—and he just celebrated his second birthday. We’ll forever be grateful for the doctors and nurses who helped bring him safely into the world and cared for him during those first difficult weeks.
