My NICU Graduate's Journey
Alexander ( AJ ) was born February 21 2025 , we had a difficult pregnancy that led to PPROM . The starting his nicu journey was going well he was off of all breathing support after 3 days but that didn’t last long after a week he started to desaturate again and had to be back on a high flow where he spent the rest of his time until about 3 days before leaving the nicu . He spent a total of 29 days in the nicu he had to learn to eat , breath & regulate his body temperature all on his own . After a month he finally came home where we then found out he has mild micrognathia which has caused him to have polyhydramnios which led to preterm labor . We found this all out because after coming home he started having issues with feeding and noisy breathing . He has since grown and came over all his obstacles and is now a thriving 15 month old (13 months adjusted ) and hitting all milestones and more .

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
What makes me proud is that no matter how much he had been through he doesn’t let him stop himself from anything and just by looking at him you’d never guess all the things he had been through in his 14 months he’s been here
