NICU Hospital for my journey
Medical Center Hospital (Odessa TX)

My NICU Graduate's Journey
When our daughter was born at 39 weeks, we never expected she would need to spend her first weeks in the NICU. Shortly after birth, she experienced breathing difficulties, an infection, and a broken clavicle. What we thought would be a normal hospital stay quickly became one of the most emotional and frightening experiences of our lives. Watching such a tiny baby go through so much was heartbreaking, and there were moments when we felt overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty.
For 3 weeks, the NICU became our second home. We learned to celebrate every small victory, every improvement, and every hopeful update from her nurses and doctors. Through it all, our daughter showed incredible strength from the very beginning. Even as a newborn, she was a fighter.
Now, our NICU graduate is 9 years old and thriving. She is full of life, joy, and determination, and one of her biggest passions is dance. Watching her dance, smile, and enjoy life is something we never take for granted. The little girl who once struggled in the NICU has grown into a strong, beautiful, and resilient child who continues to inspire us every day.
Her journey reminded us how precious life truly is and how strong even the smallest fighters can be.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
I am proud of my NICU graduate for the strength and resilience she has shown since the very beginning of her life. Even as a newborn, she fought through breathing difficulties, an infection, and a broken clavicle during her 3-week stay in the NICU. Watching her overcome those challenges showed us just how strong she truly is.
Now at 9 years old, she continues to amaze me every day with her kind heart, determination, and joyful spirit. Seeing her thrive, especially in dance, is something I am incredibly proud of because there was once a time when we worried so much about her health and future. She never lets challenges stop her and always gives her best in everything she does.
Most of all, I am proud of the loving, strong, and beautiful person she is becoming. She reminds me every day that even the smallest fighters can grow into the brightest
