My NICU Graduate's Journey
In September 2024, I found out I was expecting twins a moment filled with excitement, hope, and dreams for the future. Shortly after, our world changed when doctors told us that Baby B (ASH) had only a 5-10% chance of survival. Despite the fear and uncertainty, we held onto hope and prepared to fight alongside her every step of the way. Ash, was born with Pierre Robin Sequence, Caudal Regression Syndrome, and Ventriculomegaly. Her journey began in the NICU, where she faced multiple surgeries, therapies, and constant medical challenges. She now has a G-tube, tracheostomy, and VP shunt in place, each representing another obstacle she courageously overcame. For 6 long months, the NICU became our second home. We celebrated every small victory.. a stable night, a successful procedure, a moment we could finally hold her without wires interrupting the embrace. The NICU taught me the true meaning of strength, resilience, and unconditional love. I watched my daughter fight harder than I ever thought possible, and she inspired me to keep going even on the hardest days. In September 2025, after a 2 day "room in" at TCH. We were finally able to bring our sweet girl home on 9/22/2025.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
From feeling her little kicks in my belly not knowing how much time I'd have with her.. Every day I'm in awe and amazement of what Ash can now do. She fought so hard in utero, NICU and continues to be a little spitfire. She’s doing everything the doctors said wouldn’t be possible times 100! People tell you how they'd die for you but to me, Ash fighting so hard to live and be here with us today makes me feel immense gratitude. Forever grateful that she chose me to be her mama in this life.
