My NICU Graduate's Journey
Connor was born full term but sustained a brain injury during birth that unknowingly resulted in a grade 4 brain bleed. On his second day of life he started experiencing seizures and trouble bleeding which led to the diagnosis and a 2 week NICU stay. Connor returned to the NICU after discharge for a shunt surgery following a hydrocephalus diagnosis. We appreciate all of the doctors and nurses for helping us through a complex journey.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
I’m proud of Connor’s resilience, strength and sense of joy. Connor has thrived after the NICU even with some complex diagnosis. He is a happy, walking, talking 22-month-old who has developed on his own time line. Connor recently had to return to the hospital to undergo shunt revision surgery and within an hour of discharge he was back home running around and playing like usual. Connor never lets challenges or setbacks stop him from having fun.
