My NICU Graduate's Journey
Fiona and her twin brother Ryan were born on 05/28/21 at 26wks weighing 2lbs 0.9oz and 2lbs 4oz. Fiona had a very rough start. She had a massive pulmonary hemorrhage day 3 and they didnt expect her to survive the night. Thankfully she survived. After that, it was multiple blood transfusions, being on the ventilator for over a month, and test after test. After a month I was able to hold her for the 1st time. Her brother passed at 6.5 weeks old. Trying to care for her while grieving was the hardest for me. After a long 4 month stay, she was able to come home with a NG tube and oxygen. Through multiple therapies, she learned to do all the things a full term baby could do.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
I am proud of Fiona for always having a smile on her face during her therapies. It wasn't always easy, but she never complained and never gave up. She is stubborn and will prove anyone wrong when they say she cant do sometjing.
