My NICU Graduate's JourneyBorn at just 29 weeks on Halloween, Peyton entered the world already fighting. He spent his first 45 days in the NICU growing stronger every day, and even after coming home, he continued to overcome every obstacle placed in front of him.
Over the last 18 years, Peyton has poured his heart into baseball, football, and especially basketball. Beyond athletics, he has excelled academically through National Honor Society membership, honors and AP classes, and graduating in the top 7% of his class.
More importantly, Peyton is kindhearted, respectful, and one of the hardest-working people we know. Doctors once warned that he would likely struggle academically, but Peyton has spent his life proving that determination can overcome any prediction. He continues to show us that there is nothing he cannot accomplish when he sets his mind to it.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate? The man Peyton has become has made me more proud than words could ever fully express. His heart, drive, determination, and work ethic are everything a mother hopes to see in her child. Through every challenge and every triumph, he has continued to rise above and exceed every expectation. Peyton is everything I prayed he would be — and so much more.
