NICU Hospital for my journeyVermont Children’s Hospital (as it was known back then)
My NICU Graduate's JourneyI was born 17 weeks early and faced many medical challenges during my NICU stay, including a grade III brain bleed. From my earliest days to childhood and beyond, the NICU has remained a constant part of my life. That's why I love sharing photos not just from when I was a baby, but from different stages of my childhood too (and into adulthood), because this hospital didn't just help me survive, it gave me the chance to grow up.
Now, as a college student studying neuroscience, I am part of my university’s dance marathon, RALLYTHON. It feels like coming full circle: supporting the same place that once supported me so more kids get the chance to grow up too.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?I think my parents would say they are proud of me for never giving up. My mom says I am the strongest and bravest person she knows, calling me a warrior because of my “quiet courage,” while my dad calls me his hero. Even through long COVID and ongoing medical challenges, they are proud of my resilience, strength, and determination to keep moving forward.
